The Happel Foundation is a partner of COMACO in Zambia. COMACO trains small farmers in sustainable agriculture. Thanks to new cultivation methods, farmers can not only secure their harvests, but also increase them sustainably. In this process, certain trees play a decisive role in maintaining the valuable soil.
In addition to planting agroforestry trees, COMACO supports the establishment of farmers' cooperatives, which also coordinate crop rotations and the purchase and sale of selected seeds, for example. These tasks require digital skills and the use of digital tools.
As a social enterprise, COMACO also takes care of logistics and the purchase of surplus harvests. It processes them further and sells the resulting products.
